Teachers have the ability to find plans in all areas of social studies, including anthropology, geography, current events, history, and government.
http://www.smithsonianeducation.org/educators/lesson_plans/lesson_plans.html- This site is sponsored by the Smithsonian museum and it has lesson plans for teachers to use. These lesson plans are unique because there is an emphasis on primary source documents and museum collections that teachers can give to their students to create engaging lesson plans.
http://www.educationworld.com/#LessonPlanning- This site is useful for teachers because it contains lesson plans in different areas of social studies. Also, teachers from across the country are able to submit their lesson plans so other teachers can use them. This is a great resource because teachers can use lesson plans that are proven to be successful in other classrooms.
http://www.csun.edu/~hcedu013/plans.html- This is a great site for teachers because there are numerous links to content specific lesson plans. Also, most of these lesson plans contain unit plans where teachers can build an entire unit around the material found on this cite. The lessons on this site range from materials on the Civil War to Ancient History.
http://www.pbs.org/teachersource/soc_stud.htm- This site allows teachers to find lesson plans on every possible subject in social studies. Many of these plans contain interactive material where students use video and multi-media to complete a lesson activity. Also, these lesson plans contain activities where students use primary source documents, which makes the lesson plans more authentic and interesting.
