Email Tips for
High School Students

Email
is a quick and easy way for students and teachers to communicate. People can communicate without having to
leave their homes or even scheduling an
appointment. But there are many things
students need to be aware of if they are going to continue to use email on a
daily basis. Here are some tips they should follow to
ensure their emailing is productive and efficient.
- Make
sure your emails are clear and easily understood so that information can
be shared efficiently.
- Be
careful when using sarcasm. The recipient of your email may not be able to
tell if you are joking, if in fact you are.
- Your
email compositions should be different from your paper compositions.
- Make
sure you proofread your emails. Students tend to get careless with grammar
and punctuation in their emails.
- Students
should make sure to put down all the information they wish to send in one
email so avoid long, drawn out email “conversations.”
- Make
sure to have a subject title on your emails so the recipient doesn’t
mistake it for junk email.
- Email
can be a quick and effective way to communicate between teachers and
classmates.
- Make
sure you type in the correct email address so that you send your email to
the right person.
- Be
specific in your emails so that effective communication can take place.
Many people are in a hurry when reading emails, so make them short and
clear.
- Remember
to check your email on a regular basis when corresponding with students or
teachers so that people are not waiting for a response.
