World War II

Introduction

World War II was one of the most catastrophic events in the history of, not just the United States but, the world.  Millions of young soldiers died on all sides of the war and the political divisions from the war are still felt today.  For students to understand the war they need to have a good sense of the events that took place.  The following activity will allow students to become familiar with some of the major events of World War II that affected the United States.

Activity

Students will pretend to be a historian.  Based on prior knowledge and research students will visit the following site and create a timeline based on what they feel to be the most important events of the war involving the United States.  Students will then have to present their timeline to the class and be able to support the events based on their significance during the war.
