    This site is organized and user-friendly. Search for lesson plans by key word or subject, and then indicate the grade level.  There are language arts lessons available on poetry, figurative language, research skills, book report ideas, and literary devices.

The Daily Lesson Plan (by The New York Times)
   
    There are hundreds of free lesson plans for grades 6 to 12 on this site.  Search by key words, subject, or most recently published.  All lessons require a New York Times article (available online).  Most of the lessons involve the analysis of an issue or topic and the application of learning through simulations of real-life situations.

The Educator's Reference Desk

    Begin using this site by browsing by subject area.  Each subject has many subcategories to help refine your search.  Once a subcategory is chosen, the lesson plans are listed alphabetically.  The grade level range is also listed (K-12).  Lesson plans are submitted by teachers from all over the country, and their name, school, e-mail address, and date submitted are included in the lesson.

    This site offers a unique search tool - "hot searches."  The most recently requested popular topics are listed at the top of the page (e.g. butterflies, spring, recycling, etc.).  Most lessons include the objectives, materials, assessment, and activities. However, some lessons are only a worksheet to support your subject.

    You can select lessons by grade level, theme, learning area, or Microsoft product.  Besides lesson plans, you can find case studies, tutorials, or virtual classroom tours.  All lesson plans involve the direct use of a Microsoft product.  Results range from student activities to articles about using technology properly with students.

    This site has an organized format  using subject areas and subcategories.  There are general topics like reading, writing, and spelling, and content specific topics like Charlotte's Weband The Westward Movement.  You are also able to easily submit your own lesson.
