Avoiding Inappropriate Websites

While we are using the computer lab there will often be times when you are instructed to search for various topics using a search engine or a specific website. The World Wide Web is open to anyone that has access to it so often times you might come across a website that is inappropriate. If you find yourself in one of these sites there is a possibility that you will not be able to close the windows to get out of it.

If you come across one of these sites here is the policy that should be followed:

  1. Turn off the monitor to the computer.
  2. Raise your hand so that the teacher is aware that you need some help.
  3. The teacher will be with you as soon as possible. She will then write down the name of the website and restart the computer for you.
  4. Once the computer has restarted you can continue with your search.

It is not necessary to make a big deal about because this will cause an unneeded distraction and will be cause for you to leave the computer lab. This policy is for the safety of the students and if it can not be followed then you will not be permitted to use the computer lab and will therefore have to do additional assignments.

In order for you to begin working in the computer lab I will need you to sign the bottom portion of this letter and return it to me agreeing that you will follow the rules and act appropriately.
