Drop In Assignment #1

Purpose: This activity will have students find the pre-European contact location of the Native American tribe they are researching.

Directions: Go to this website and look at the maps.

Maps of Indian Tribes before European Contact:  These maps will show you where your tribes were located before the Europeans arrived.

Task:

1. Where is the Native American tribe you are researching located? Put an X on the location on the copy of the map provided.
2. Answer this question in complete sentences using the space at the bottom of the map provided. Remember to give examples from you readings to support your answer.

Did the tribe you are researching relocate to a different area during the 1700’s and 1800’s? If so, what do you think their reasons for moving were?
