TIPS to Help Avoid Viruses and Hoaxes

v    Be careful downloading files

v    Use anti-spy ware software and keep it updated

v    Use antivirus software and keep it updated

v    Make sure you're using an updated version of your software

v    Update your Windows software

v    Don't click e-mail attachments

v    Don't believe the any messages

v    Scan all disks you receive from others before you use them

v    Make a copy on a separate backup disk of all documents you cannot afford to lose

v    Do not download and run programs from the Internet or received in email unless you are sure they are okay

v    Never open an email attachment if you have even the slightest doubt about its origin

 

Form Letter for Any Hoax Virus Warnings

 

To Whom It May Concern:


The message that was sent to me is a hoax.  Usually all internet warnings are not real.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Do not believe any warnings you receive, even if they are from friends

 

When you get a warning message please to do the following:

VERIFY
Check the message. Chances are good it is a hoax.

REPLY
Tell the sender and all recipients that the message is not real.

DELETE

Just delete the message. Do not send it to anyone.
