GOALS

Students will be able to effectively and efficiently utilize the Favorites folders and features of their Microsoft Explorer web browser to select and organize a range of different website address links.

ACTIVITY

Students will use the Favorites feature on their Internet Explorer menu bar to save and organize links to important or favorite web sites.  When finished students will create a web page listing some of the folder names they created with hyper links underneath to show the sites they chose to save and how they organized them.

*      Locate and click the word “Favorites” on the menu bar.

*      Continue creating, naming, and filling new folders until all or nearly all of your site links are organized into folders.

Create – in Function:

*      After organizing your favorite links into folders, you can now save a favorite web link directly to anyone of your current folders or create a new folder for the new link.

*      Now when you find a new site whose link you want to save to an existing folder, you can click on “Favorites” and “Add to Favorites.”

*      Next, click on “Create in”

*      You have the option of clicking on and highlighting a folder for the link to be saved under or creating a new folder.

Renaming Folders:

*      If you find after a round of organizing that a folder name is no longer appropriate, follow the steps above to “Organize Favorites” and to the function buttons.

*      Click on the folder you would like rename and then the “Rename” button.  You should now see the folder name highlighted and a cursor blinking.

*      Begin typing the new folder name.

Deleting Folders:

*      As you continue organizing and adding to your favorites, you may need to delete some folders that are no longer useful.  Follow the above steps to “Organize Favorites” and to the function buttons.
