Description
Mrs.
Vine teaches second grade Math, Social Studies, Science, Spelling, and Language
Arts. There are several useful aspects
to this site such as the amount of information that is available, the links
that are offered, and how Mrs. Vine broke down the months of the school
year.
Recommendations
I
think that the site would be more useful if homework was listed daily with
instructions or examples so that parents can be sure that their kids are
completing their assignments. I also
think that the links could be laid out better so that the links are grouped by
subject matter. Last I think a schedule of the curriculum should be included so
that students and parents know what to expect. Also, kids really enjoy having
their work displayed so maybe some projects put on the site would be
motivational.
Commendations
I
think the section for getting to know the teacher is a great idea, this makes
teachers a little more familiar to their students and parents. Mrs. Vine told a lot about herself and
listed her experience in teaching. The
link for class news is also a great idea because parents don’t have to worry
about not getting notes. They can just pop on the internet and get up to
speed.
The
link for the book challenge is a great idea as well. The students progress is listed so they know where they stand in
the contest.

Mrs.
Welch teaches first grade Social Studies, Math, Science, and Language
Arts. This site has a ton of
information available for students and parents. The list of Homework Policies
is a great idea and may be a great way to avoid any confusion. Also, I think the listing of the rules is
very helpful to parents and students so that they can be worked on at home as
well. The homework list is also a great
idea just in case a student forgets what theyhave for homework.
Recommendation
I
think this site could be organized better.
The site has a lot of information available but it is not laid out very
well. Maybe setting up the links closer
together would be more helpful for navigational purposes. Also, I think there should be links for a
parents and student page so that kids and parents can easily get to the
information they need.
Commendations
I
think the out of this world work link is a fantastic idea and is probably
motivational for the kids. Star of the
week is another great idea and probably inspires the kids to work hard. Last, I really like the link for the new
students. This is a great way for kids
and parents to get to know new students and will make the students feel
welcome.
