Fairytales
We
have been studying how translations and stories get changed to be more “reader
friendly”. We have recently been reading Myths, Fairytales and Folklore.
Task 1: Open the interactive web page below
and read at least one of Grimms’ tales.
Task 2: Write down answers to these
questions. These will be used in class
discussion. Your grade is based on your
participation in the discussion.
Be prepared to tell me what you liked about the
story. ( Grimms’ version)
Be prepared to tell me what you didn’t like about
the story ( Grimms’ version)
Is there a Disney or other story that mirrors that
story, yet is more friendly to the reader?
IF so then which one and why is it more reader friendly.
Is this a story you’d read to a child? Why or why
not?
Do any of the Grimms’ stories teach a valuable
lesson or moral? If yes what is it?
