The Solar System

During our solar system unit we will be learning about the sun and the nine planets in our solar system. During this activity you will visit a website and do research on the planets and their features. Click here to begin.

Activities:

1. Explore the website.

2. Pick 5 out of the 9 planets and find the following statistics for each planet you choose:

a) Mean distance from the sun

b) Maximum and minimum surface temperature

c) Does it have any rings or moons? If it has rings, how many and what are they

made of? If it has moons, how many and what are their names?

d) When was the planet discovered?

e) 3 interesting facts about the planet

3. On the right hand side of the webpage there is a sidebar with articles from NASA: choose one of the articles to read and write a summary of the article.

All of this work should be completed in your Science notebook!
