Teacher Made Web Sites

This is Mrs. Stamper’s Chemistry page.  It is for a high school Chemistry I class and an AP Chemistry class.  This website is for the students to find course requirements, old tests, power point notes, and tips for doing well in the class.  This site is a work in progress.  The links that are not completed are the assignments section, handouts, and the calendar.

Commendations:

For the links that do work they are very thorough and have all the information that a student could ever need for this course.  I think having access to the power point notes is a great resource for the students because if they are absent or miss something in class they can always get on the website and get the needed information.  I also think having old tests for the students to look at is a good way for them to get an idea of how the teacher asks questions.

Recommendations:

One recommendation I have for this site is to finish it.  Some of the unfinished links could be very useful to the students.  I would also make it more fun.  By adding pictures and different colors the students will be more interested in taking time to look at the site and use it.  I would also provide an answer key for the sample tests and possibly also some practice problems and other chemistry links.

This is Ms. Dunn’s fifth web site.  It is set up for her fifth grade class.  She has set up a place for students art work to be viewed, a place with class photos, and links to websites for fifth graders and their parents to use for help in all subject areas.  There is also a link to the school district and school websites.  There is also a link called Edline which has upcoming events for the students, book lists, projects, and more great links!

Commendations:

This website is very easy to use.  The links are all very useful and they all work! (I tried other sites where the links were not working) It is obvious that this teacher has put a lot of time and effort into this website and works hard to keep it updated.  The links that she provides are ones that are kid friendly and have a lot of useful information that pertains to the units she teaches in her class.

Recommendations:

While I like a website that is fun and has a lot of pictures and color, this one has gone a little overboard.  There is too much going on and the layout could be a little better.  I also think she could add a calendar of assignments the students are working on and maybe a syllabus so the students know what is coming up next.  (This website is really good and helpful so it is hard to think of recommendations.)

*It was hard to think of recommendations for these web sites, I almost feel bad giving them because I think having a class website is very commendable.  I know teachers do not have a lot of time to put these together even though they are really helpful to the students and parents and I think it is great that these two teachers have taken the time to make these amazing sites for their students.
