:. Lesson Plans for Health and PE Teachers .:
The internet is such a valuable
resource for teachers. The internet can
be the tool that helps a teacher present the same,
mundane topic in a completely different way.
It can help spark the imagination and create a whole knew standard for
how things are done. For these very reasons,
it is important that teachers are able to utilize those sites that are helpful
and be able to weed through those that are just a waste of time. Hopefully this list will be of use to many
teachers in the physical education and health fields.
PE Central- The
lesson plans on PE Central are vast and of good quality. For a K-12 certification such as P.E., having
the ability to choose the grade level right off the bat is priceless. Also, the site has other topics for lesson
plans such as field day, holidays, dance, cooperative, instant activities and
more. This is a great site.

Lesson Plans Page - This site
is great! Right away it allows the user
to pick the grade level for the lesson plans they are seeking. This is very convenient for a physical
education teacher that is certified K-12.
Another really nice thing about this site is that once you pick the
grade level, the site has lesson plans arranged in a category of "games
and relays," "health and fitness," "sports," and
"other" that make it very easy to find an appropriate lesson
plan.

PE Links4U Lesson Plans
- This site has a lot of unit lesson plans that are specific for sports. They vary in quality, but there are several
plans on numerous different sports. For
the creative mind, looking through these could spark new ideas or get a new
ball rolling. They are all also not
specific to grade level, but it is possible to modify them to make it work for
your class.

Health
Teacher.com - There are not many free lesson plans on this site. However, the ones that are available as
samples are thorough and run the gamut of ages- really from K-12. The sample lesson plans also provide PDF
files to print handouts for your health lesson.
This site is definitely a good start for some ideas for lesson plans,
but could have more variety without a subscription.

Lesson Planet - This site is quite a
resource. It's
claim, "the search engine for teachers," seems to really be
true. It covers every subject, and
immediately allows the teacher to search for their subject, grade level and
even may add in the ratings that the lessons have been given. This would be a good site for those teachers
that have to cover a lot of different topics, for example those that teach
health and physical education.

Teach-nology - This site is great for picking your age group
and subject matter. Right away the user
gets to choose. There are several
choices of subject matter from instant activities to teacher-produced lesson
plans. Once the modifiers are chosen,
there are hundreds of lesson plans to choose from. This is also a good resource even for those
educators outside of health and P.E., as it covers several other subjects as
well.

The Educator's Reference
Desk - This site does not have as much variety as some of the others, but
they are still good lesson plans. On the
first page, you are able to do a pretty detailed search for what you're trying
to find. A choice for subject, grade
level, and keywords are all possible.
This site is good for P.E., but would also be good for educators in
other subjects as well.
