Physical Activity and Young Adults

1.  What kind of physical activity do you do on a daily basis?

Physical activity is a very important part of being a healthy individual but is often overlooked.  We are going to explore a site that shows us some interesting facts about physical activity and what we can do to make our lives healthier by incorporating some movement!

Please visit the site, http://www.cdc.gov/NCCDPHP/sgr/adoles.htm provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  Please read the information the website provides and consider the following questions to be ready for an in-class discussion:

2.  Has your activity level declined as your grade/age has increased?  Why do you think it has or has not?

3.  List 3 ways a young adult can be physically active not already mentioned on the website:

       1.

       2.

       3.

4.  What amount of time does the CDC recommend for being physically active?

5.  Do you think this is an appropriate amount of time?  Why or Why not?

Finally, after reading the website in detail, and answering the questions above please:

Interview an adult in your life and ask them questions #1 & 2.

Be sure to share with them your answers to #4 & 5 and get their feedback as well.

Are they aware of these recommendations, etc?  Jot some notes down during your conversation and be ready to share this information in class during our next meeting.

Get ready!  We will be discussing ways to continue being physically active into adulthood!
