This is a 1st grade website. It was made for the school year 2003/2004. It is excellent! I found this site very useful for both parents and students. It includes a link to curriculum and classroom activities. It has tons of online resources, games, and activities for the students to complete. A showcase of student work is also included. This website is an awesome display of dedication to teaching and to her website.  She gets an A+ from me.

 

Commendations

·        It is extremely easy to navigate. The font size and type are perfect for locating just what you are looking for.

·        The site is well laid out with great graphics without being too busy and distracting. Great on the eyes.

·        The student showcase is fantastic. She took the time to scan in student’s artwork and poetry.

·        Included soothing music to listen to while moving through the site.  Lovely.

 

Recommendations

·        Provide more photos of the students and classroom.

·        Alphabetizing the student’s names in the student showcase would be useful for parents to quickly find their student’s work.

·        Changing the layout of the first page or creating another page to cut down on scrolling.

 

 

 

Mrs. Shortman's First Grade

This is also a 1st grade website. I found this site to be nicely done and easily navigated by teachers, parents and students. I appreciated being able to have a picture as well as words to tell me what was available. Mrs. Shortman provided a calendar, curriculum focus, a schedule, activities and websites for her students. Also included on the site is a list of questions commonly asked by parents that I find to be invaluable.  Great touch.

·        The site had appropriate graphics.

 

 

Recommendations

·        Provide photos of the classroom.

·        Include a link to the school’s homepage.

·        The music on this site was a bit annoying.  A way to turn it off or change the tune is necessary .

·        The font size was too small and not easy on the eyes. I would change the font, its size, and the background color.

·        Include a link to student work samples.
