Do’s |
Don’ts |
|
Be Nice: Use
respectful language when talking to someone. Never send an email in
anger. You will regret it later. |
It’s a Secret:
Don’t give ANYONE your private information. Such as your telephone
number, address, school address or parent’s name. |
|
Stay on topic. Say only what is necessary. BE
BRIEF! Long emails often aren’t read. |
Type in all CAPS. Someone will think that you are
screaming at them. |
|
Be respectful and courteous: Answer emails promptly.
|
Mind Your Business: Don’t send
information out that you don’t want anyone else to know. Email is easily
transferred. |
|
Tell An Adult:
Tell someone if someone writes something or sends you pictures that
offend you. |
Don’t send chain letters. They are annoying and
take up space that could be used for important messages. |
|
Check your spelling and grammar. Use spell and
grammar checker. |
Don’t assume that your emails are private. Don’t send any email that will potentially cause you trouble later on. |
|
Always fill in the subject box. This lets the
person know just what your email is about. |
Don’t forward email that contains rude
comments, slurs, or mean words. No Flaming. |
|
Use emotion: It’s hard to get across what you are
feeling at any given time so try using emoticons. Click on the site below and
learn all about them. |
Don’t open spam. Delete it right away and tell
your parents. |
