This site should
be included in the curriculum of every student. Very up to date information
about education, politics, culture, arts, health, food, and sports. I am going to be sure to introduce this site
to my students and give them time to listen to what’s going on in the world
without bias. I hope they will love the site as I do and focus on the book
reviews which are a favorite of mine. Great music is also included with the
streaming audio.

& Music
This site features
dramatized children’s stories. There are stories about Molly Pitcher, George
Washington, Betsy Ross, Crispus Attucks, and Benjamin Franklin. There are also Bible
stories and fairy tales specifically designed for the elementary student. This streaming audio site is perfect to use
for Social Studies. The site also offers
the option of purchasing the stories on CD and cassette for a nominal fee.

This site is a
group of classic stories and fairy tales read by Chuck Brown. Listen to Tale of Peter Rabbit, the Emperor’s New Clothes and How the Leopard Got Its Spots and many
more.

This is a great
site for children to learn about classical music and play games to learn about
rhythm and music. The site also highlights instruments and tools of the
orchestra and gives short summaries about the instrument. A narrator will read the name of the
instrument and let you listen to what the instrument sounds like. There is also
a musical dictionary. The website is very colorful and appealing to the
elementary student. I would recommend
this site to the young and old considering taking up an instrument. Very well
put together website.

These poems are especially
for children. Finding poetry is made easy by having the poems organized into
themes, poetic form and poet. This site is a part of a larger website that
features a teacher, parent and student resource center. Very nicely arranged and kid friendly. http://www.poetryarchive.org/childrensarchive/home.do
Historical Speeches
This
website features hundreds of speeches from historical figures such as President
John Kennedy, Coretta Scott King, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Yasir Arafat. Also
available are videos categorized into topics such as war and military, this day
in history, American history, world history, and society and culture. This is a
great site for the social studies class.

This site has
audio clips of speeches of historical icons such as Martin Luther King Jr.,
William Clinton, Winston Churchill, and selected Watergate tapes by Richard
Nixon. This site has about 100 speeches but is really lacking with speeches
from the 1900-1959. The majority of the speeches were given 1960-1969. Some of
the speeches were difficult to hear but what a treasure trove of speeches.

This
site is dedicated to some of the most significant speeches of the 20th
century, over 5,000 speeches, debates, legal proceedings, lectures, and
debates. This site also features

Music
What a
great site! Since I was born in the 60’s I was thrilled when I could listen to
the music from that time. Students can become acquainted with music from this
era and hear real music.
