Web Dropins
Dropin 1:
Dewey Decimal System: I would use this Dropin with fifth grade students. The dropin includes a kid friendly web site for the students to use and worksheet for them to complete and turn it. 20 points

Dropin 2:
I would use this dropin with second graders. My focus here is for the students to learn about fiction and non fiction books. The students can click on Robert Muncsh web site for examples of fiction and they can click on Simon Seymore web site for examples of non fiction. 20 points

Dropin 3:
I would use this dropin with fifth graders. They are required to do a state report every year. This site includes a link to 50states.com. The students will be able to click on their state and gather the information they need to complete their assignment. I need to complete the chart with the information they have been asked to locate. 20 points

Dropin 4:
I would use this dropin with fourth and fifth grade students. My goal would be for them to learn to evaluate a good web site. I linked three web sites to the assignment for them to evaluate and they have written work they need to complete.

Dropin 5:
I would use this dropin with fifth graders to show how the internet can be used to gather information and organized. The students are asked to collect information about assigned pets to find the cost of care for the pets. Then they are asked to select a pet and by using the information they collected they are to explain their pet choice. 20 points

Elective One: Newsletters
I subscribed to two new newsletters. Thinkport and Education Site Reviews. I wrote a brief summary describing the contents of each site. 20 points

Elective Two: Search Using Google
I listed five searching techniques that Google suggested to use to search the web. This kid friendly and I plan to print it and use with my students. 20 points

Elective Three: Virtual Field Trips
I choose four different web sites for students to go on a virtual field trip. Beginning with a trip to the rain forest, Chesapeake Bay, 50 States, and ending with a trip to the moon. They are to be used with second through fifth graders. 20 points

Elective 4: Worksheets for Teachers
I found ten web sites that offer already made worksheets for teachers to use in the classroom. All the teacher needs to do is click and print. The grade level varies for PreK to 12th grade. This is a great resource for teachers. 20 points

I searched the web for five great shopping sites. I listed the five sites I located and with one click anyone visiting this page will be able to shop with ease. I also includes safe shopping tips for the internet shopper. 20 points

I am a media specialist s I created a list of author’s web sites. I like to do author studies with the students. I will be able to use this bibliography with all my students, Grades K through 6th.

Article Critique:
I read an article written by David Pearce Synder. He addresses how distance learning labs and elearning can help students learn. Using technology in the classroom can help with the teacher shortage and offer highly qualified teachers for each subject if students use the internet. 20 points

After visiting Copyright Bay. I was quickly reminded of copyright cans and dos for teachers. I read two of the scenarios from the list. Then I wrote how each teacher was violated the copyright laws.
