Games Elective

I work in an office with a lot of people that are highly competitive; we are all collegiate coaches. Frequently in the office we can be found pouting because one of us lost in our championship free cell match. It is hard to play games even on the internet without getting very competitive. Sometimes, I take it out on the computer when I am not winning and that’s when I realize I have a problem! Addiction to computer games is a problem that occurs at all levels; it causes eyestrain and high blood pressure!! If you ask me games should be part of a filter in my office.

A particular favorite is the Mummy Maze. This game is addicting and very fun to play and beat the odds of the mummy eating the poor little man in the maze. I played it for an hour and everyone in the office got a kick out of it. We began collaborating on it and the moves we gave the little man. I don’t think I could ever get past level three on my own. I am computer game illiterate. I can’t even win at solitaire! Even as a child I could not succeed in video game mastery. I guess nothing changes. But I do love the mummy maze. It is addicting and mentally challenging at the same time.

The next game I ventured onto was another thinking game. It is called Bejeweled and it’s on MSN’s website. I did not have to be a member to play the game. So I just began my own round and began to play. The idea is to match three gems together and then they disappear and you get points for making gems disappear. To add to the challenge I moved up in my level and began at the “expert” level. This level keeps a time limit on you and you have to keep trying to beat your score in a shorter amount of time. It is a fun game, not quite as fun as Mummy Maze but still challenging for the internet game impaired!!
