In the highest civilization, the book is still the highest delight. He who has once known its satisfactions is provided with a resource against calamity.

My Reflection on Managing Information Resources: Selecting, Organizing, Using

My Media Website, Selection Criteria, Mission Statement, Vision Statement, Parent Handbook

An effective media program will follow the policies and procedures set forth in county policy. This will produce an efficient and equitable media center that serves its community effectively. Howard County has developed a very comprehensive program that is the foundation for all their media centers. I will develop and support a media program that promotes the intellectual freedom and privacy of the members of our community. This is supported in the Library Bill of Rights, which the Howard County Media program fully supports. I have demonstrated this philosophy in my Parent Handbook artifact, where I have addressed concerns from parents. The artifact, My Media Website, was developed to demonstrate my support of these philosophies, as seen in my mission and vision statements. To create an equitable media program, I will also select all materials using professional tools and criteria designed to meet the educational needs of my community. Howard County has an effective program that supports this selection process. I will support the Howard County policy when I select materials for my media center. Both my Parent Handbook and My Media Website support this selection process. It is my philosophy that one of the greatest contributions a media specialist can make to his/her educational community is to support the programs already in place to create an educationally nurturing environment.
