Letter sent to the Howard County School Board

Howard County School Board

Dear Pat Gordon,

As a part of our Student Service Learning, I have been working with seventh grade classes to restore our stream behind our school to a healthier condition. The class this year completed researched about non-native plants and our buffer zone around the stream. They found that there are not enough mature trees to reduce run-off into the stream. They mapped out the stream and the growth of a particular plant called Multi-flora rose. They developed a plan in which this non-native species could be removed and trees could be planted. I have enclosed all of their letters and I selected ten that I felt best expressed the circumstances and the need for improvement. I hope you will consider our project for the future development and success of our stream.

Sincerely,
