High Protein vs. Low
Fat
In our study of nutrition, obesity and healthy eating habits are major issues. There are constantly new diets and diet programs available, to help people with weight management. The most interesting new diet is the Atkins diet. There is controversy, even in the medical community, about whether they should recommend a low fat diet or a high protein. Select the link to read an article supporting a low fat diet, titled, "The Diet War". Then click on the link titled "High Protein" to learn about this type of diet. After reading the articles write the answers to the following questions in your journal.
1. What are the advantages to a low fat diet?
2. What are the disadvantages of a high protein diet?

5. Why is there an argument in the medical community over which type of diet is best?
6. Which type of diet would you recommend to a friend trying to lose weight? Explain why.
