Modifications
Students with Hearing Impairments:
- Create colorful and vibrant
activities.
- Make sure that the directions
are clearly written.
- Have the child work with a
partner.
- Provide additional practice.
- Have the student use earphones
if they have partial hearing.
- Provide a translator for the
student.
- Adapt assignments so that the
grammar usage is clear.
- Proofread multiple times.
- Use pictures and printed
material to explain activities more clearly.
- Create activities where the
students participate in a hand’s on activity and then use the Internet to
reinforce learning.
Students with ADD and ADHD:
- Use concrete examples so the
students are sure to understand.
- Preview the lesson before
beginning.
- Highlight specific areas on the
web by using bright colors or bold typing.
- Give specific time limits
making sure to allow the student the amount of time needed.
- Allow the student to work in a
resource room.
- Give written directions as well
as verbal.
- Check and double check for
accuracy and understanding.
- Relate instruction to personal
experience.
- Give the student shorter
assignments.
- Prioritize assignments and
steps to take during those assignments.
