1.  Poem Scavenger Hunt

-In this activity students will use different websites to discover tons of information about poems.  They will be required to answer certain questions about poetry and even read a poem by Edgar Allan Poe.

2.  Becoming more Familiar with the Newspaper

-This activity is designed to help students become more familiar with the newspaper.  Each task is aimed to help students search specific sections and become more aware of the newspapers functions.

3.  Library Charts & Graphs

-It is imperative that students know how to use/read charts and graphs.  This activity is designed to show students that even media specialist use charts and graphs in their profession.  Students are required to answer a few questions in relation to the designed library graph.

4. Author Comparison  

-In this activity students will be comparing two great children’s authors, Tomie dePaola and Patricia Polacco.  Using the specific Internet sites students will examine where these authors are from and what their inspirations are.

5.  Fairy Tale Characteristics

-After learning about the characteristics of fairy tales, students will read several online fairy tale stories.  Using the designed chart students will go through each story and fill in which characteristic applies to each story.
