Bob Whalen slm521mc – Games Elective

The first game that I tried online from the site Multi-Player Online Games Directory - http://www.mpogd.com/games/game.asp?ID=795.There was a massive directory.  I chose the “S” and had a choice of 42 games!  I chose the game called Scramble because I guess it was similar to Scrabble – and it sort of is. It is found at http://mrallen.com/scramble/. The game can be played alone or with teams of 4.  If there are more than 4 people, then you can be a spectator.  It suggests contacting players at the top of the hour.  The directions were easy enough to understand, and I was anxious to start.  There is a choice of three levels – beginner, normal, expert and choice of 4 speeds from slow to blitz.  Since this was my first online game I chose beginner and slow.  There is a dealer of 98 tiles and you make words until all of the tiles are used up.  You get points for every letter that you use.  You can use letters from a pot or take another players letters.  The first time I scored 94 and was excited to improve my score the second round.  I again scored 94, but I thought I made better and longer words.  However, you only get credit for the letters that you use.  My goal now is to try and challenge my record and beat 94.  I may even attempt to choose a faster speed!

The second game that I tried online from the site Multi-Player Online Games Directory - http://www05.pogo.com/index.jsp?sls=2.  I proceed to genre and went to classic games.  I needed to sign up online and give a password and my email address.  I felt very conservative and went to bingo at http://play24.pogo.com/rooms/roomtabs.jsp?game=bingoe&sls=3&site=pogo&lkey=3fbb79c81b4603510a66fd3c0000283c .  I was given the opportunity to view the various rules and types of bingo.  I could select the easy win, in which you win coupons and have multiple ways of winning by completing lines, x’s, diamonds, small cubes – an unbelievable assortment.  I could also select the jackpot, which I did.  The rules were very clear stating how to mark the cards, how to pause the game and how to claim Bingo!  I chose the Blackout Bingo in which you cover the complete card.  They let you now how many players are in the game – I had 114.  You are given 3 cards to play at a time.  They get you started very quickly, by starting off with about 15 numbers.  They then add a number about every 20 seconds or so.  A game goes until 48 numbers are called.  A player has 30 seconds to claim a Bingo that covers the entire card.  The closest that I got was 7 letters away. I could have won $249. 30.  They increase the jackpot $.25 each time there isn’t a winner, which tells you how many days there hasn’t been one!  They have a chat board on the side to leave messages.  I can see where this can get quite addictive very shortly.
