Rocks and Minerals!

 

            As we start out new science unit, Rocks and Minerals, we need to learn a few things.  What is a rock?  What’s the difference between a rock and a mineral?  What are rocks and minerals made of?  Visit this site: Rocks for Kids.com to learn more about them!

 

On a separate piece of paper, answer the following questions in complete sentences.

 

  1. What is a rock?  What is it made up of?

 

  1. What is a rock like?  Can you think of anything else that a rock is like?

 

 

  1. List 3 minerals that you recognize from the list.  Beside the mineral, write what category they are in.

 

  1. Where do you think you could find a rock?  A mineral?

 

 

  1. Pick a mineral from the list.  Name 2 things we use that mineral for.

 

  1. List two questions you still have about rocks and minerals.
