Governor’s School Chemistry

Mrs. Gwen Sibert

High School Chemistry

http://www.chem.vt.edu/RVGS/GSC/GSC-home.html

Three commendations:

Links on the index page were very good.  These included competencies (objectives),   syllabus, notes, laboratory, tests, homework, and links to other sites.

The notes for each topic were excellent.  Students would be able to come here if they were absent or didn’t quite get all the notes in class.  Some of the notes were even presented in a power point format.

The homework listed on the website was good.

Three recommendations:

Give a time frame on the syllabus telling when each topic would be covered during the year..

The links to the tests were in pdf format.  These were small and difficult to read.  It would be nice if these were in html format so they could be read better on the site itself.

Have links to pages that cover topics in the course to reinforce or enrich learning.

Overall this web page would be very useful to students in Mrs. Sibert’s chemistry class.

Mr. Thomas C. Caswell

Oswego High School

U.S. History

Global History

Level:  High School History

Three commendations:

I like the idea that the navigation links have a look and feel of a green board written on by yellow chalk.

The online resources are an excellent idea.  These include links to Regents Exams Preps, online writing guide, visual thesaurus, Britannica, and Encarta.

There are excellent examples of students’ work on the site.

Three recommendations:

The navigation of the links of the index / homepage is difficult.  Placing the mouse over a the major topics of U.S. History and Global History makes the menu shift back and forth.  I had difficulty selecting the correct link with the mouse due to this shifting / flickure.

Some of the links are outdated and do not work.  These need to be updated.

Provide a selection on each open page to return to the home page / index page.  Currently to return to the home  page you have to click on the top left.  I found this out by accident.  There is no indicator that says click here to return to the home page.

Overall this web page would be very useful to Mr.Thomas’s students.
