  • The Seattle Times: Martin Luther King, Jr. - This is a site constructed by The Seattle Times with the purpose, perhaps, for educating the general public and young people during Black History Month or King's Birthday Celebration (or perhaps for the 40th anniversary of the March on Washington). It contains general biographic information, speech texts and audio recordings of his famous speeches and sermons (there are a few that are not as popular located here), images from his early career to the end, and lesson plans. The image section also contains personal images from King during atypical times as well, and it contains images from other notable Civil Rights events.   • The King Center - This site is dedicated to the mission of the King Center in Atlanta, GA, which is operated by his widow Coretta Scott King. It contains basic information concerning King, but most of the information located here pertains to the various projects the center is tackling. For example, it sponsors an online training tutorial pertaining to many of King's philosophical beliefs, including non-violent direct action. It includes personal photos that deal with various subjects and themes that attempt to preserve the emotions of the times.   • Civil Rights: An Overview from the Law Perspective - This is the Cornel University Law Department's site dedicated to understanding the Civil Rights Act of 1964, in addition to preserving links focusing on relevant federal, state, local, and international resources. These links include the U.S. Constitution, recent cases regarding civil rights litigation from all levels, and international cases. Though the language and material might be above the heads of some high school aged students, this could be a wonderful resource for teachers in terms of pure content.   • TIME: 100 Leaders and Revolutionaries - This is TIME magazine's profile of the great movers and shakers of the 20th Century, with this particular article focused on King's legacy. Written by veteran writer Jack White, the article not only provides an historical treatment of the history, it also provides an acute and timely historical analysis of what King actually meant to the nation.   •   The Montgomery Bus Boycott Page - This site is dedicated to preserving the events that culminated to the successful bus boycott in Montgomery, AL, circa 1955. Of course, this was the event that noted Rosa Parks in the history books, and catapulted Dr. King into the national spotlight. The site contains several papers written about the boycott, including lesson plans, images, and primary sources.
