Course Description and Course Goals
This course is designed to help teachers incorporate technology into materials of instruction for use in the classroom. Participants will examine the ISTE technology standards, current research and best practices of technology integration with classroom lessons. Throughout the course, teachers will use common applications such as Microsoft Office Suite to create and present instructional materials to enhance existing lessons and to increase productivity. Internet safety and acceptable use issues will also be explored. Participants should have basic computer skills and an Internet connection.

learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies
to support the diverse needs of learners,

resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability,
plan for the management of technology

learning in a technology-enhanced environment.

Required Materials
Students should have Microsoft
Office Suite 2000 or better.
Students should
have Internet access and an email address. Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater
is recommended.
Evaluation
The completion of this online course is on a Pass/Fail basis and if passing, will result in 3 MSDE credit hours which can be applied towards your continuing education credits (pending approval). It will consist of an electronic portfolio showcasing the projects that have been completed for this course. These projects will be assessed using rubrics which are available at the conclusion of each assignment description in the Course Documents section. The specific assignments and point values for each assignment are listed in the next section. A passing score of 75 points or greater is expected in order to earn MSDE credit. Participation in discussion groups via BlackBoard and weekly email communication with the instructor is expected.

Procedures
When you logon
to Blackboard, you will see the various course components listed as buttons
on the left side of the screen. The Announcements
section should be checked weekly for important information. The Course
Information section contains the syllabus and the weekly schedule. Information
about the instructor may be found in the Staff Information
section. Course documents contain the learning
modules and within each, specific instructions and rubrics for each of the assignments.
The Communication section can be used to send email
and to participate in prearranged online chat sessions. The Discussion
Board will be used to share tips, classroom ideas, and to promote discussion
on the topics covered in this course. The Resources
section will have a Resource Bibliography with all of the links used in this
course, arranged by learning module.
