Video For Learning ... or.. How to Use Wikis or Blogs or Podcasting or Vodcasting (Portfolio Component)

DETAILS: You are asked to develop a tutorial/report that uses video in some way and/or addresses how to use Wikis or Blogs or Podcasting or Vodcasting in an online teaching and learning situation, then hyperlink the tutorial/report from the opening page of your Portfolio.

Please note that this is a fairly open prompt.

One Option: If you have access to any video camera (from a fairly expensive digital camera to a fairly inexpensive WebCam) and access to video editing software (such as Pinnacle, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier), and you wish to video record a learning activity or component of a learning activity, please go ahead and do that. This option produces video.

Another option would be to use PowerPoint to create a narrated slide show, then convert that to a podcastable video (using Quicktime and a trial version of Camtasia). This option produces video.

Another option would be to produce a "How To" set of instructions on using Wikis or Blogs or Podcasting or Vodcasting for your discipline and hyperlinking to video examples (in the case of vodcasting). This option does not produce video, but may hyperlink to video examples.

If you choose this option, please look at the second section of the rubric below and note grading implications.

As always, you should make this assignment appropriate to your discipline (K-12, higher ed, corporate, HR, etc.).

Due: End of Module Six
