Discussion Board Participation

OTL 501 is a reading-intensive, discussion-based class. To that end, the primary activity (and assessment) for the class is student participation in the discussion board. In most cases, this involves typical postings responding to discussion prompts based on the readings. In some cases, this may involve a collaborative activity.

  1. Postings should be distributed throughout the discussion period (not on one day or just at the beginning or end of the discussion period.)
  2. Respect others' ideas and respond to the content of the message.
  3. Keep the discussion related to the topic. It is fine to relate to other course material and current events, but the discussion should focus on the essential question/s for the discussion thread.
