This activity we will be learning about art and the environment it is placed in and how that affects the piece. Search the web for artist that use nature as their main piece of art and their piece changes the landscape. Since this is a vast topic to cover check out some known artists and work from there (example; Goldsworthy and Smithson)

Tasks;

Find 5 pieces of art that speak to you.

Print out each piece and type a description.

Find out about the artist and who he was and how that might affect the works.

Talk with the class about their pieces. Do they have a combination that makes them all similar? Come up with a piece of are that the class can construct as part of school art. Teach the students about approval of public works and how to go about the process of creating the work. Discuss the effects of weather on the piece and if it should decompose over time. How can the class get funding for the project and how could that effect the final piece?
