SLM521- Dropin #5

This is a web dropin intended for 1st and 2nd graders.
Once upon a time there lived a young boy and a young girl. They loved the story of “The 3 Little
Pigs” and decided to look in their classroom library corner for it. The boy found it first. “Look,
it’s right here,” he said. The girl thought she had found the book first. “No, it’s right here!” They
both looked at their books. The covers were a little different. The titles were even a little different.
“Let’s read them both and see who is right,” said the girl. “Okay!” shouted the boy, “but I already
know I have the right book.” The cute little girl laughed, “We’ll see about that!”
Click on the first link below called, “The Three Little Pigs” and read the story. Then, click on the second link below called “Defendant Testifies” and read that story. You’ll notice a different narrator.
Which version did you like best? How were the two stories different? How were they the same?
On a separate sheet of paper, copy the Venn diagram below. Write at least 4 ways they were different. In the middle, write at least 4 ways they were the same. Finally, below the diagram, write who you think told the right (truthful) version of the story. Was it the Three Little Pigs or was it the Wolf?
