Girls Don’t Smoke!

A drop in for pre-teen girls to discourage smoking

 

 

   

 

 

1. Did you know that over 5 million children will die at an early age because of a decision to start smoking as an adolescent?

 

2. Did you know that smoking causes cancer, emphysema, strokes, and heart and lung diseases?

 

According to a 2006 Washington Post article, more young women than men started using marijuana, alcohol and cigarettes and suffer more serious health consequences as a result.

 

 

 

       

                                  

          

 

                                                         

 

 

 

Activity: Make a list of ten “excuses” you can say when someone asks you to smoke.  Write them down in a journal and keep it to refer to in your years to come. You’ll be glad you did! The first two are done for you.

 

1.                       “No thanks, I don’t want my teeth to turn yellow!”

2.                       “No thanks, my lungs get enough pollution as it is!”
