Dear Parents,
During
the school year, your child will have numerous opportunities to use the
internet as a means of supporting curriculum instruction. We will be using the internet in the
computer lab, the media center, as well as in the classroom. Montgomery County Public Schools has
established regulations and policies for using the internet safely. MCPS is utilizing a technology
protection measure, which shields student access to sites that are harmful to
minors. For additional information
about how MCPS is protecting its students during internet use, please visit www.mcps.k12.md.ud/info/cipa .
As
a teacher, I have also established regulations and policies within the school
environment in order to provide a safe experience with the internet. All websites that we use in the
classroom are first previewed by me.
Students will be given a direct link to sites that we will be using,
that pertain to the curriculum, and will be directed to use kid-safe search
engines that have been identified by the teacher. In this way, students will be given some
opportunities to search on their own in a safe way so that they can locate
information independently. In
addition, the students will at all times be supervised by the adult in
charge.
Please
feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.
Thanks for your support,
Katie Wilberding
