Lesson Plans

There are many websites that have lesson plans available.  I used the Google and AltaVista search engines to help me locate some.  Since I knew that there would be too many to investigate, I limited my search to Language Arts, K-2.  Of those I visited, the ReadWriteThink is my favorite.

ReadWriteThink  This link will take you directly to my search results for lesson plans concerning phonemes.  A synopsis of each plan makes it easy for you to select the appropriate one. This site also has many interactive resources for students to use, and provides some downloadable ones as well. http://www.marcopolosearch.org/mpsearch/Search_Results.asp?orgn_id=9&log_type=1&hdnFilter=+AND+%28%7Bgrade_level0%241%7D+OR+%7Bgrade_level1%241%7D+OR+%7Bgrade_level2%241%7D%29&hdnPerPage=15&txtSearchFor=phonemes&selUsing=all

Reading A-Z has printable lesson plans and books to teach guided reading.  In order to use the resources on this site, you must subscribe.  Subscriptions are available for individuals and school districts. A quick tour shows many of the resources available on the site, most of which are downloadable.  There is no limit to the number of copies a registered user can download as long as it is for classroom/program use.

The Lesson Planet has approximately 30,000 lesson plans available on its site, which can only be accessed by subscription.  The basic subscription fee is $9.95 per year; an upgraded subscription makes more resources available.  Of the 30,000 total lesson plans, 3220 are related to Language Arts, K-2.  Although I could not access the plans, a synopsis is provided to help you select an appropriate one.

Lesson Planz showed a listing of the categories of Language Arts lesson plans before listing the plan description.  This site also has a teacher chat forum.

The Lesson Plans Page has a lot of plans to offer.  The Language Arts is subdivided into categories so that you can more precisely select your focus.   The main drawback to this site is that it doesn’t give a synopsis of the plans, just a teaser.

Discovery School.  I include this in my list simply because I like the site and have found resources for other projects here.  I located one lesson pertaining directly to language arts; other plans can be adapted to your needs.

TeAch-nology.com. Although I find this site very distracting and awkward to use, it does have a lot of good plans and tutorials.  It is not as well organized as some of the other sites.  They do have a good selection of phonics lessons.  Unfortunately, plans are not categorized by grade level.
