Objective: Students will determine their need for a firewall and locate the one best suited for their needs. They will be able to install, test and use the firewall.
Introduction: Internet security is a major concern in these days of easy access. There are many viruses, worms, and Trojan horses waiting to attack your computer. And there are people just waiting to break into your computer to access and manipulate your files. Anti-virus software and spyware detectors are not sufficient to ensure your protection from attack. Firewalls were developed to help protect computers from these break-ins. Windows XP comes with a built in firewall. If you have Windows XP, do you know if your firewall is enabled? Is it the most effective one for your needs? Do you even need one?
