Our mission is to provide instruction, resources, and services that enable students and staff
to think critically as they pursue and use ideas and information.

Our vision for the school's library media program is to:
- create an inviting learning environment.
- maintain a diverse collection of resources that encourages further exploration of personal interests.
- foster a life-long appreciation of literature and information access through reading.
- provide support for the school community to effectively use a variety of technologies within the classroom and the media center.
- design an instructional program that is seamlessly integrated with the school's curriculum.
- establish collaborative partnerships with colleagues that promote the development of effective instructional resources.
- increase student achievement of curricular learning outcomes.
- encourage information literacy, independent learning, and socially responsible use of information.

Michelle J. White - Mrs. White is the full-time media specialist. She has taught in MCPS from 1990 to 2006. Mrs. White received her K-12 School Library Media certification from McDaniel College in 2007.

Carolyn F. Lass - Mrs. Lass is the half-time media assistant. She is glad to check out your materials or help you in any way. Her hours are from 10:30 to 2:30 Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Tuesday and Friday she is available from 11:00 to 3:00. |
Curtis Kimmons - Mr. Kimmons is Diamond's IT Support Specialist. As part of the county's Western Support Team (1A), he also troubleshoots network, hardware, and software problems as the primary support specialist at 4 other elementary schools. |
CHECKOUT PROCEDURES |

Students may check out the following number of books as long as they have no overdue items:
K, 1st, and 2nd Grades: 2 books
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades: 3 books
6th, 7th, and 8th Grades: unlimited
Books are checked out for 2 weeks at a time.
Magazines are checked out for 1 week at a time.
Students in all grades may come in at any time during the school day to return, renew, or check out materials as long as they have a pass from their classroom teacher.
