In this activity you will read a Paul Bunyan story and look for characteristics of a tall tale.
You will visit the Animated Tall Tales website.
1) Visit the following link: http://www.animatedtalltales.com/en/
2) Click on the "Read Story" link to the left. Read along as you listen to the story
Paul Bunyan: Flapjack Frenzy.
3) Pick ONE of the tall tale characteristics listed below. Write the characteristic in
your journal. Then write an example(s) of this characteristic from the story in your journal.
CHARACTERISTICS OF TALL TALES
The story has many exaggerations in it.
The main character is bigger than life and has super-human abilities.
The main character has a problem to solve.
The plot of the story is funny and impossible or very hard to believe.
