Description of assignment: I have put together this bibliography with my 6th grade Language Arts classes in mind. I want them to pick an author and an illustrator to research from this year’s Caldecott and Newbery Medal Award and Honor recipient lists. I also want them to understand the background and specifics of each award.

 

The Caldecott Medal Award

 

The Randolph Caldecott Medal – This site explains how the Caldecott Medal started. It tells about Randolph Caldecott and his illustrations. This offers great background information about the award for the most distinguished American picture book for children.
