Elective #2 – Collaboration for Jody Welin

All of the collaborative projects below are age appropriate for my 6th and 7th grade Language Arts classes. Some projects will better fit my honors classes and some would work better for directed classes.

The Read In project - This is an organization that hosts numerous projects. They have online chats between classes about books. Authors and illustrators also come in and participate on line. There are support materials for the classroom and help for teachers. This project would be great for all classes, all levels.

Poet’s Corner  - Children will be able to share their poetry with this project. They are to write a variety of poems every few weeks. The style of poem changes monthly. Student’s poems will then be collected in an anthology of poems and sent around the world to participating classrooms. This also allows us to receive poems to read from all over the world. This would be great for all classes, all levels.

Monster Exchange Project - This is a very creative project. Students will share an image of a monster with other classes. The trick is that they are only allowed to share the monster by giving a written description. Once the receiving class has drawn the monster from the written description, they will share it with the original class to see if they have similar drawings. This would be great for all classes/all levels.
