School
Library Media Sites
All library
media programs need to have certain resources available to their faculty and
students. These are the items I feel are necessary components.
For
Students
Acceptable Use Policy- Have the school district
acceptable use policy posted for students to review when accessing the computer.
General Library Information- This area would contain library
hours, checkout procedures, etc.
Examples of Citations- An example of how to cite the
most common resources found in your school library and a link to outside sites
that would cover the other types of resources.
Research Methods- Give the students a framework for choosing a
research topic, narrowing their search, and compiling their research.
Search Engines- Provide links to student friendly search
engines.
Online Databases- This area would contain links to PA Power
Library and other subscription databases.
Book Recommendations- Have a list of students and their
favorite books available to promote library use.
Curriculum Area- All of the different subject areas would have
links to topics contained in their curriculum.
For Faculty
Links to curriculum pages- Have links available to lesson
plans, clip-art, and more.
Calendar for Library Use- This calendar would be available
for all staff to access. That way everyone knows whether the library is
available.
List of A/V Resources- Have a list of all equipment available
for staff use.
