Comparing Presidents

This web drop-in is intended for U.S. History students in 10th Grade.

Introduction:  The American Presidency is a unique institution.  Have you ever wondered what makes the people who are president uniquely qualified for the job?  What are the qualifications?  What about their past?  How does their past qualify them for the job of POTUS?

Activity:  To help answer these questions, view the following web sites with these questions in mind.  Then, create a Venn diagram of the Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  In the middle circle, list events from each man’s life prior to assuming the office of President that they have in common.  In each of the outer circles, list things unique to either Washington or Lincoln.
