 Timeline of Ancient India

As we begin our unit on the Republic of India, students will develop a timeline of important events in the history of Ancient India.  The timeframe to be used is from 1500 BCE to the mid 1500’s CE.  Below are several links to websites which focus on Ancient India history.  Things to look for include the impact of religion, economic developments, rulers and dynasties, social development, development of government.

Recipe for a Terrific Timeline:

1.                A unique and creative title.

2.                Five different significant events which occurred in Ancient India.

3.                Graphical representations of each of the 5 events listed.

4.                A brief and detailed description of each event.

5.                Judicious use of color, graphics, and a variety of events.

When you are finished with your timeline, choose one event and write a short paragraph explaining why you chose this item and how you think it will impact the future of India, or the world.
