Food Pyramid Power!

 

It is important to eat a well balanced diet daily to help maintain a healthy mind and body.  In this activity you are going to be able to learn about how to make healthy choices by following the Food Guide Pyramid!

 

1.  Learn about the Food Guide Pyramid by checking out the sites below.

2.  After gathering information from the sites above draw a diagram of the Food Pyramid similar to the one shown below.  List each food group in the correct spot on the pyramid and label the number of recommended servings that you should have each day.

3.  For one day keep a Food Journal to keep track of how well you follow the Food Guide Pyramid.

Print out the journal from this link and complete.

 

4.  Do you think that you eat a healthy diet or do you need to make a change? 

Write a short paragraph analyzing your eating habits on the second page of your food journal.  What did you learn about your eating habits from comparing them to the food pyramid daily recommendations?  Do you need to make any changes? Why or why not?

 

5.  Turn your food pyramid diagram, food journal, and paragraph to Mrs. Vilella when you are complete.
