Web Quest Part 2 –
Robotics on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station
Process Part 2 -The student will learn about where robotics
is used on other space programs such as the Space Shuttle and the International
Space Station. The student will review
the web sites below and discuss the questions in a small group discussion.
1. What does the robotic arm in the cargo bay of
the Space Shuttle do?
2. What will the new robotic arm do for the
International Space Station?
3. Can you think of any other uses a robotic
mechanism (arm or stand alone robot) might have inside or outside the
International Space Station? (example
may be helping with docking procedures to pull the approaching vehicle into the
docking position and avoid crashes)
