·        Do not give anyone any personal information about you such as your last name, address, phone number or school information unless you have permission from a parent.

·        Never send pictures of yourself to people that you do not know.

·        If anyone ever says or e-mails you something that makes you uncomfortable tell an adult right away.

·        Never open emails or attachments from people that you do not know.  This could give your computer a virus.

·        It is never a good idea to meet someone in person that you met over the internet.

·        You never need to respond to someone that says something mean or makes you uncomfortable, just let an adult know.

·        If you are using instant messenger (IM) make sure that everyone on your buddy list is someone you know.  People can pretend that they are someone that they are not.

·        Never share passwords with people, not even your friend!  It is okay for your parents to know the passwords though.

·        The internet is as real as talking with someone face-to-face, remember to be polite and not to say anything that may hurt someone else’s feelings.  They could be in the same room as your friend.

·        Nothing is private on the internet!!!  There is a way to retrieve everything that you say and do online.
