E-mailing Tips for
Kids
By: Jennifer Sterling
Everyday
the people around us send emails as a way to communicate with friends, family,
coworkers, and students whether they are near by or across the world. There are a few tips that students should
follow when using email.
1.
You
should always fill out the subject box on your email so that the recipient has
an idea of what your email contains.
2.
Try
not to use CAPITAL letters for your entire email. This is interpreted as yelling, of course,
sometimes that is what you are trying to do to get your point across.
3.
Do
not write anything in an email that you would not want everyone in the class to
know. Emails are private but can be
printed out and sent to multiply people after you send it.
4.
Some
joking is dangerous to do through an email because the reader may interpret it
differently then if you directly said the message to them.
5.
Do
not go crazy using the smileys, but sometimes they
are a good way to make sure that someone understands what you are trying to
say.
6.
Do
not give any of your personal information out over an email. Anyone could end up with this information.
7.
Make
sure that you sign your name at the end of the email so that the person
receiving the message knows who it came from.
8.
People
that you do not know that email you should be thought of as strangers
9. Avoid opening emails
and attachments from people you do not know.
This is a way people send viruses to different computers.
10.Use
proper grammar and spelling. No one
likes to read an email that is hard to understand because it is written poorly.
