The Dairy of a Wimpy Kid

Activity 2

Note to Teachers:

This lesson is constructed for students in fourth grade that are learning about using the internet in their everyday life.  This is the second of five total assignments that will be completed.  These activities will be geared towards the subjects of English and technology.

Lesson

During today’s lesson we are going to spend sometime talking about safety when blogging.  As you can remember from last our last lesson, we spent some time exploring The Dairy of a Wimpy Kid and today everyone is going to be able to start their own weblog or blog.  First, I want you all to read the safety tips about blogging.  You just need to read the section geared towards teens.  You will have a pop quiz on these items sometime tomorrow.  It is very important that you follow these tips for your safety and the safety of your friends.

For this assignment each of you will write a journal entry about a day that you have had recently at school.  It could either be a good day or a bad day but remember that the whole world will be able to read your entry.  Each of you will not have your own blog but we will be using a classroom Wiki.  The reason for this is that they are much safer and can be more closely monitored.  I would like each of you to spend sometime writing about a day that you had at school that is in the same style as what we looked at yesterday in the book.  If you need to refer back to the book feel free.
