Elective #9 School Library Media Sites

 

 

 

 

  1. School Library Media Components:
    1. Meaningful and updated photographs-  Photographs showcasing the media center and it’s capabilities will go along way towards telling people what it has to offer and interested the librarian is in making sure the web page is updated.  If the librarian is concerned with keeping it updated it probably means they are concerned with all details no matter what their size.

 

    1. Links with actual URL’s-  By providing the actual URL with the link it allows you to manually input the URL even if the link is not working.

 

    1. Annotations-  Annotations are very helpful in allowing the reader to quickly ascertain whether a particular site is where they really wanted to go

 

    1. Hours of operation-  Providing the hours the SLM is open is very helpful to all individuals.  It is also very helpful for the SLM to state who may use the library and when they may use the library.

 

    1. Research databases-  Very helpful for students and teachers conducting research for various papers etc.

 

    1. A list of categories accessible through the site-  This allows you to see immediately what is included in the site and what may or may not be helpful to you.  These categories would then be hyperlinked to an annotated bibliography of where the link will take you.

 

    1. Circulation guidelines-  A listing of the policies and procedures for the library.

 

    1. Bibliography guide-  A link to sites to provide help for creating a bibliography for a research paper.

 

    1. Research paper guidelines-  A link to sites to help with the crafting of a research paper.  Many individuals need help to put their research papers together and to make them
